The migrant Monarch Butterfly is part of the tribe of the Danaini. Once a year in autumn, on a so-called “social flight” they fly an astonishing distance-up to 3600 km-and travel together a part of the world. Luxembourgish pianist Françoise Tonteling unites musicians and intermingles their different roots and musical worlds. Together with belgian drummer and percussionist Stijn Cools, maroccan oud-player Mostapha Ajdad and luxembourgish cellist Annemie Osborne, they create an unusual and colourful soundpainting where powerful energetic rhythms encounter the poetic melodies of the orient, granting lots of space for the personal expression of each through improvisation.
